Pre-Nursery (18 months – 3 years)
In these foundational years, we focus on sensory exploration, music, movement, and emotional connection  all essential to early brain development. Children build motor coordination, language, and social confidence, supported by strong routines and secure relationships. Parents are active partners in building independence and self-awareness.

Nursery (3 – 4 years)
Children begin to engage in open-ended play, collaborative projects, storytelling, and outdoor exploration. Foundational concepts in literacy and numeracy emerge naturally through meaningful contexts. Our environments foster peer interaction, emotional regulation, and curiosity essential for deeper learning ahead.

Kindergarten 1 (4 – 5 years)
This is a year of exploration and intentional challenge. Children dive into early literacy, numeracy, and STEM through projects that link learning to real life. Our approach builds higher-order thinking, collaboration, and confidence setting the stage for future academic and social success.

Kindergarten 2 (5 – 6 years)

There is no single “best” age to start preschool. Every child develops at their own pace, so it is important to consider their readiness, independence and comfort in a group setting. At Vivero, children can enrol in our preschool programs according to the following age groups:

  • Pre-Nursery: 2-3 years
  • Nursery: 3-4 years
  • Kindergarten 1: 4-5 years
  • Kindergarten 2: 5-6 years

Our play-based, inquiry-led approach allows children to learn, explore and build confidence at every stage of their early years.

Start by looking beyond the curriculum and consider how your child will feel and learn there every day. Visit the preschool, observe how teachers interact with the children, and look for a warm, safe and engaging environment. Ask about the approach to learning, play, child development, safety and communication with parents. Most importantly, choose a preschool where your child feels comfortable, valued and encouraged to explore and learn.

Start by looking for preschools that are conveniently located and have a learning approach that suits your child and your family. Consider the school’s learning environment, educator quality, safety practices, curriculum, parent communication and opportunities for play and exploration.

It is also worth visiting a few preschools to experience the environment first hand. Look for a place where your child feels comfortable, curious and excited to learn.

Preschool is primarily focused on early learning and development, helping children build social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.

Preschool helps children develop the confidence, independence and social-emotional skills they need to make a smooth transition to primary school. Through play, conversations and hands-on experiences, children develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving and self -management skills, while also building early literacy and numeracy foundations such as phonics, vocabulary, storytelling, mark-making and writing, number sense, counting, patterns and simple mathematical thinking. Our aim is to help every child entre primary school feeling confident, capable, curious and ready to learn.
Look for a preschool with clear child-safety policies, secure entry and exit procedures, active supervision, trained and appropriately screened staff, first-aid and emergency procedures, and clear processes for managing illness and accidents. Good hygiene practices are equally important. Ask about regular cleaning and sanitisation, handwashing routines, safe food practices, clean toilets and nappy-changing areas, and how the preschool manages children who are unwell.

Use your visit to understand both the experience your child will have and how the school partners with parents. Ask about the curriculum and learning approach, educator experience, daily routines, child safety, hygiene, communication with parents, meals and outdoor play.
