Be Extraordinary

be-extraordinary

In line with our purpose we strive to create learning experiences and environments that not only support emerging skills in reading, math and science, but also the 21st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, tech literacy, and social-emotional development. To foster these skills we have integrated a few of the following initiatives into our curriculum for children to be extraordinary global citizens of tomorrow.

Elementary Coding

Elementary Coding

At Vivero, we understand that similar to young children learning a language to communicate, code literacy is a requirement for participation in the digital world. Vivero Junior Pro is integrated into our pre-school programme such that our digital natives not just learn and use languages to instruct the computer but alongside learn other life skills:

  • Logical reasoning- sequencing, cause and effect etc
  • Problem solving
  • Project design- breaking down big ideas to specific tasks
  • Collaboration
  • Communication & self-expression
  • Resilience
  • Math concepts

Entrepreneurship Programme

Entrepreneurship Programme

Our Childpreneurs initiative has been interwoven into the curriculum to help build the foundation of essential entrepreneurial skills that will help children lead successful, fulfilling lives. The initiative focuses on building the following life skills:

  • Decision Making
  • Money Management
  • Self-Confidence
  • Resilience
  • Leadership
  • Time Management
  • Innovation

Civic Management

Civic Management

Our children are not just a part of a sheltered school environment but also active members of society who have a greater responsibility to the community in which they live. Our teachers facilitate projects where children are encouraged to actively engage with their surroundings and the community around them. In the course of these engagements, children learn to become civil members of the community and understand their roles and responsibilities. It entails projects like:

  • Discussing rights and responsibilities
  • Defining a good citizen
  • Familiarizing children on social ethics and norms
  • Children participation in community projects like recycling, saving water, saving electricity etc.

Culinary Programme

Culinary Programme

Vivero Culinary practice focuses on developing essential life skills while enhancing science, math, comprehension and fine motor skills. Children are offered a variety of culinary experiences to introduce new concepts and techniques. This programme also focuses on inculcating healthy food habits, dining etiquette and self-confidence.

Student Led Conference

Student Led Conference

This initiative is instrumental in encouraging children to become active protagonists of their learning. This gives them opportunities to self-reflect, engage and take onus of what they have learnt. It is a wonderful forum for families to engage with the school. SLCs bring about a richer and more transparent communication about the child's progress with respect to a particular Unit of Inquiry which they have chosen to showcase.

Music Curriculum

Music Curriculum

The music curriculum at Vivero has been designed to systematically introduce and expose our children to the elementary concepts of pitch, rhythm and dynamics. While music inspires 'self-expression', it is important to encourage the individuality in each child. The underlying motive behind our music program is to be able to build confident and joyful performers in an environment that promotes acceptance and appreciation for all.

Yo! Vivero Radio

Yo! Vivero Radio

A radio of the children, by the children and for the children (an in-house radio station). This initiative offers our young learners a unique opportunity to first hand share their experiences and perspectives on age- appropriate concepts with the community. Discussions between our Radio Crew and children are recorded and broadcast at school. This opportunity to connect freely with the audience helps children gain clarity and confidence.

Yo! Vivero Post

Yo! Vivero Post

The Yo! Vivero Post is a children's publication. On the rotating Board of Editors are Vivero children who come together with their peers to publish a paper with matters that are important to them. This encourages the children to work in collaboration while donning various roles that of a writer, reporter, photographer and editor. This initiative further enhances their learning skills as they decide, create, select and publish their very own newspaper.

Creative Writing

Creative Writing

At Vivero we introduce the concept of creative writing to our children from a young age as it improves their reading skills. They are invited and encouraged to explore their writing abilities through creating their own story books with graphic representation. Creative writing entails more than forming one sentence after another. It empowers the child to express in ways that are creative and compelling as they learn to use various modes of representation. Writing offers a child that added opportunity to put forth their thoughts and opinions with confidence using the power of imagination. Creative writing boosts a child’s ability to begin to think outside the box and look for alternatives. This expands their way of thinking, which can lead to successful resolutions in other areas of learning using problem solving and analytical skills.

Foreign Language Programme

Foreign Language Programme

Our programme encourages children to learn basics of a new language through games, songs & rhymes. As they learn a new language, they widen their horizons and are introduced to diversity of the world, thus creating global citizens prepared for the 21st century.
